How long can a human live unprotected in space?
There is not a very good history behind this myth. It has not been tested so, there hasn't been an accurate answer to this myth. In NASA; there was a incident about a human or test subject accidentally exposed to a vacuum. This is a very interesting myth for me and others. If they were to test it then, it would be the first test conducted in the history of US about a human in a vacuum.
There is really no any other specfic topic about this myth. If it is so hard to test or even impossible then, how could it be related to other sciene topic or myth. It doesn't have any proof behind it either. What I mean is that; nobody has ever lived or will to talk about being exposed to a vacuum.
At Nasa's Manned Spacecraft center, there was an incident about a test subject accidentally explosed to a vacuum because, of his leaking space suit back in '65. He remained conscious for about 14 seconds which is about the time the blood takes to reach the brain from the heart. When, he was consious again, he said that before he passed out he remembered that the water on his tongue began to boil. The "Bioastronautics Data Book answers this question: "Some degree of consciousness will probably be retained for 9 to 11 seconds.... It is very unlikely that a human suddenly exposed to a vacuum would have more than 5 to 10 seconds to help himself."
